From little acorns...
our past
From our humble founding in 1996, we’ve grown significantly. Once just a small portacabin with only a handful of low-loader trucks and older rental vehicles to our name, Runtech was initially a seed planted for unprecedented and successful corporate growth. Although then, the firm was small, the ambitions and plans for the future were much bigger, and Managing Director, Ian Gorvett, invested time, passion and energy into building the company you know and recongise today.
Never shying away from hard work, Ian would spend hours each day providing the manual labour required for plant repair jobs, picking up his own tools to keep the business turning over. As the company began to grow, Runtech had approximately 10 employees by the year of 2000, and had started to invest in a bigger and more reliable fleet. It was also this very year, that Runtech signed their first long-term contract which then spearheaded the growth of what has now become one of the UK’s most trusted and reputable manned service providers.
1996
Runtech was launched by Ian & Samantha Gorvett. With just a small portacabin and a handful of vehicles to its name, this was simply the start of something much bigger.
2000
Ian bought out a fleet of vehicles on a buy-to-rent premise, and signed Runtech’s first ever official contract signed with Tata, [then Corus].
2005
Following significant growth of the transport fleet, Runtech also proudly won our first manned service contract to work on site at Port Talbot.
2009
Director and son of Ian, Grant Gorvett, followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Runtech family, becoming a critical addition to the business.
2010
Runtech North was launched in a national move, and we signed one of our biggest company contracts with the Tata Steel site in Scunthorpe.
2011 - 2020
Runtech’s natural growth into a production services managed service partner.
Major contracts awarded include Blast Furnace frontside and flue dust removal and later Slab Handling and processing.
2021
We are now proudly celebrating 25 years in business, with an impressive 35 contracts to our name and a fleet of over 1000 plant and vehicles on nationwide delivery.
OUR present
Today, we are proud to boast a nationwide fleet of over 1000 items of Plant, and vehicles. We’ve also recently expanded our transport and haulage division, providing an essential service to meet all supply chain needs for many clients across the country.
Now with over 35 managed contracts secured and seven depots nationwide, we are proud to associated with the British steel family, supporting clients Tata Steel and British Steel with our environmental and site services.
Our team has grown, and we’ve never felt more accomplished with the talent and skills demonstrated by our staff. With over 250 employees, we’re passionate about great company culture, future development and learning opportunities, career progression and giving back to those who work hard for us.
Family-founded, our core values have never changed, and we continue to support community and charitable causes in all ways that we can, from local food banks to annual fundraising and sports club sponsorships.
